Liverpool

Sunday evening the sun is setting over the docks the seagulls have ceased their screaming all the crowds have gone home and all is well with the world. Yesterday we did a bit of shopping yes on a Saturday afternoon in Liverpool 1 and we had to go shopping Anyway its a great place to go people watching I could discuss the sights that I saw but I would hate to hurt anybody's feeling especially at the dress sense of some people. I'm sure that have the world do not own a mirror. before yo left camp, on the guard room wall was a full length mirror with a large sign asking "are you properly Dressed"
Maybe we should erect them at strategic place.??? Yesterday It was another miserable day as the weather was concerned so when all jobs were completed it was time to yet climb up town again to go to mass we have found a little chapel right in the middle of town is near the post office tower that gets packed to the roof its  standing room only and it only takes 40min.
Today we have had Marryanne Stev Pippa and not forgetting Zac when Pippa come to the boat she expects to feed the ducks however there are no Ducks around here we had to settle for Seagulls noisy dirty bloody things Pippa was not at all impressed and Seagulls "are not nice"
Together they are a right hand full and so funny

As you can see from the pics the water is busy with canoeists, trip boats and crews practicing for the Dragon boat race which is I believe next weekend or the bank holiday Monday by then of course we will have moved  on by then hopefully be in Scarisbrick for the Bank Holiday.

speak soon

Hi Everyone
Well for the first day in Liverpool it has been quite a miserable one the weather has been abysmal that awful drizzle that only soaks you through,  Still we took a walk up Bold street its a great place to lift the spirit, Firstly I had to go to the art shop and there are some great retro clothes shops we love looking at what we use to wear (I know; its something to do with our age) Not only the shops in Bold street I imagine you can eat any cuisine in the world in Bold street and the people are just flamboyant
there was a guy around 60 who was playing the cornet. I use to go to brass bands with my dad I this guy had the most sweetest of tones it was truly magic strange how the simplest of things can change the out look of a day.
The weather dried up around 6 and we were then treated to a beautiful sunset over the Pump House and Albert Dock
Maybe tomorrow will give us a better day if not then its the cathedral and the museum we will neen a day of rest we have the grand children here on Sunday

God Bless

Made it into Liverpool

Hi
Ok we have made it into Liverpool, It was a bit hairy at time traveling through the docks in a force wind was a bit well not unsafe but if the wind had gone any higher then they would have had to cancel all passages. We picked up our three passengers at the Stanley locks and teamed up with another boat belonging a very nice couple from the Midlands as we had done it a few times before and they were new to the in and outs of the docks Buggerlugs led the way everything was going great and we were managing the wind until we left Mann island lock and headed into open water going through to Albert Dock were the wind really got a hold of Buggerlugs, turning into the wind she had a list to port that was quite worrying however she responded to good burst of power and came around the whole episode only lasted 2 mins and we were soon on an even keel heading into Salthouse dock and our mooring
We are now as snug as a bug in a rug and listening the whole of the docks come alive with all the hundreds of bars and restaurants its a vibrant place at Liverpool 1 and we are moored right in the middle of it
We said good by to our passengers Silvia, Alan, Robyn and Daughter Rowan they had a great time I didn't see the need to tell them that we almost capsized ???? Little Rowan loved playing with the switch's especially the Clackson horn its a bit loud but the general public in Liverpool are use to it.  then Steph and Phil arrived with their Granddaughter Scarlet. so all in all we had quite a busy day

Only one photo I had no time today

God Bless

What a day

Hi everyone

We spent last night at the pub very quiet and relaxing. Today the morning started dismal and dull and the clouds didn't give any optimism of the day getting better, Now this Liverpool link we are on is a special route to get boats through  the outskirts of Liverpool such as Magul, Netherton and Bootle
these outlying districts have roads that cris cross the canal using swing bridges some of these swing bridges car some very busy roads. when the Link was first opened most of the s/w where manned by CRT staff as Liverpool drivers tend to get irate if kept waiting for (a f-------- Barge to shift its arse)
However it would seem that CRT are cutting back or Liverpool drivers have met with some Karma Because they are now all self operated however some are time controlled and you can only use them at certain times of day never through the rush hour. Today we did 11 swing bridges some very easy ōwith only farm traffic but others were quite busy However Noreen being a seasoned warrior takes them in her stride. Having travelled 6 hours today in the pouring rain and gale force winds we have arrived in Litherland outside Tesco we will spend the day here tomorrow and then travel into Liverpool on Thursday picking up our Passengers at the Estonian Village that is the top of  Stanley locks they are going through with us to Salthouse dock were we will spend a week.

Reading that you may consider it boring or asking why bother? however until you have travelled at 3 miles an hour in the pouring rain and Gail force winds you can never revel in the pure unabated pleasure of cruising ????????????????????????????????????????

God Bless

just another day

Hi everyone
Yesterday I thought was quite bad weather wise but we awoke this morning to another drop in the temperature and an increase in the wind speed that is every boaters nightmare unless you are under sail and we are not though in theory with a side that is 5ft high x 60ft long I make that to be 300 sqft of sail witch when it gets a hold of you there is very little anyone can do bet to keep the speed down and understand the water.
We started with a lazy breakfast and a slow start having negotiated two swing bridges without incident we called in at Scarisbrick marina to say helo have a bacon butty and a coffee and then set off again. It got 14.00 hrs I got fed up of fighting the wind and decided to call it a day. I just happen to know this nice pub that has good food and better ale so I just pulled in at the Ship. moored up had a lazy afternoon went out for dinner now having a lazy evening in front of the telly,
Tomorrow seem as if the weather is very much the same as today, So it will be an early start as we have to be at bridge 9 by 13.00 to start our link passage into Liverpool. again not a long way but we have seven swing bridges through Magul which can be difficult.
lets see if we can find another nice pub to moor at
God Bless

Burscough Wharf
OK you lot I know its been a long time but its been a very long winter, BUT Today we set off on another of Buggerlugs adventures this time we are first heading to Liverpool for a week and then going all out to attempt to get to Bristol its a bloody long way at three miles an Hour) However Noreen and I are made of real British stock and except for the odd mishap we should be back for September.
It was great to back out on the cut again even if it was only a very short trip We had the rain the wind and the beautiful sunshine what else could we ask for, no real destination, time scales, appointments, or any other distractions that may injure our thoughts of peace and tranquillity

Keep in touch whilst we are traveling

God Bless all
